Our Story
Ocarina Piano School opened in Phnom Penh in 2014 with a straightforward conviction: that serious music education and genuine enjoyment are not in tension, and that a school could offer both. In the years since, we have taught hundreds of students across two campuses — Khmer families, international families on posting, and expats of every background.
What has not changed is the individual learning plan. Whether a student is in a group class or a private lesson, the plan is theirs.
Our Approach
Our teaching is informed by French music education standards, including solfège — ear and voice trained alongside the eye, not after it.
Music theoryStudents in the same group class are frequently on different pieces at different stages. The class is shared; the path is not.
Group pianoLessons are delivered in French and English, which makes us a natural fit for Phnom Penh's international and francophone families.

Specialised programmeOur Community
Our students range from three-year-olds discovering that a keyboard makes different sounds when you press it in different places, to adults returning to an instrument they abandoned at fifteen. They come from Khmer families across Phnom Penh, from the international schools, and from the expat community. What they have in common is a school that expects them to make real progress and intends them to enjoy it.
